Wow, no listings? Sorry about that!

First, make sure that the material and location entered are spelled correctly. It is also possible the material you entered is too specific. Try a more general term, such as "plastic" instead of "water bottles." We also may have trouble pinpointing the location you have entered. Try entering your ZIP or postal code.

If you still can't find any listings, let's work together to figure this out. By "together" we mean you and our support staff here at Earth911.com (we actually have live people that work hard to keep these listings accurate and useful).

  1. imageContact your State Department of Environmental Quality/Department of Environmental Protection (DEQ/DEP). Every state has one, and it is a wealth of information on the best way to recycle or dispose of an item, and it also knows all the local regulations and policies that may affect you. You can find the contact information you need by selecting your state from this list. Then click on Programs and Resources to find out more.
  2. Sometimes you can find the most recent information by contacting your local waste hauler, since these companies often own the facilities where consumer waste is processed. Even if you personally don't have a curbside recycling service, the people that take your regular trash get questions about proper disposal of waste all the time. Look on your bill, your outdoor trash can or your dumpster for a customer service phone number.
  3. Share what you learn with us! So, you didn't find a solution on Earth911.com? That actually helps us improve. If you have found a location that is not in our directory, suggest a listing. If you have found another option, tell us about it, and we can share it with others in your area1!

1You should know that all the information we have about recycling is made publicly available through our Web site and our toll-free 1-800-CLEANUP number (among many other places). As we are an online search engine maintaining thousands of listings, we often rely on people like yourself, that live in the local community, to help us keep our information accurate and up to date.
