Monday to Saturday, 7:15am to 3:15pm The Landfill is closed on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Manchester Residents Needing to Use the Landfill

For Manchester residents needing to dispose of items at the Landfill, all residential users of the Landfill and Transfer Station must either purchase a yearly Landfill permit or pay for each load that is brought in.

The Fees are as follows:

Permit (Valid July 1 through June 30) $20.00 per vehicle

Car Load $2.00 per car load

Pick-up Truck/ or Trailer $4.00 per car load

Furniture, bedding, appliances, propane tanks and tires
(off the rim) $5.00 per each item.

In order for the permit to be issued, the vehicle MUST be registered to the property owner in the Town of Manchester and not be used for business purposes. In addition, the vehicle may only be used to bring refuse from your Manchester home that you reside in.

There is NO CHARGE to bring leaves or grass clippings to the Composting area or to deliver recyclables (except metal) to the Recycling area. The Town accepts the following materials for household recycling:

RECYCLING OPPORTUNITIES - BOOKS, TELEPHONE BOOKS, MOTOR OIL, LEAD-ACID BATTERIES

BOOKS: paperback and hard cover books can ONLY be recycled in boxes at 263 Olcott street parking area or behind the Senior Center in the parking lot. These boxes are marked “GOT BOOKS ”

TELEPHONE BOOKS can ONLY be recycled in the AT&T Telephone Book Recycling Box, located in the parking lot of the Fleet Garage at 263 Olcott St. The telephone recycling box is accessible 7 days a week, 24 hours a day and will be available until the first week of June.

USED MOTOR OIL: Used motor oil must be scheduled for recycling collection, please see above. Place used motor oil in non-breakable containers, no larger than 1 gallon size, with tightly fitting screw top lid. Place curbside next to your trash and recycling carts. MAXIMUM OF 2 GALLONS PER WEEK. State law prohibits dumping of used motor oil on land, in storm drains, or into waterways. Motor oil containers are NOT recycled under any circumstances.

AUTOMOTIVE BATTERIES: Secure caps and place on the curb next to your trash and recycling carts.

PAINT is NOT collected at the curb. The Landfill will accept Latex/Water-base paint ONLY. Oil based paint, stains, and turpentine must be disposed of on Hazardous Waste Days at the Household Hazardous Waste Collection facility
