Trash and recycling may be picked up by a private hauler or taken to the Ledyard Transfer Site on Carpenter Road about a half mile from the Village limits on Poplar Ridge Road. The Transfer Site is only open to residents of the Town of Ledyard and garbage bags require tags that can be purchased on site or at the Ledyard Town Clerk’s office. Each summer there is one clean-up day for larger items not usually accepted at the Transfer Site. These items include yard debris, washers and dryers, furniture, and discarded building materials. There is no extra charge for these items. Tires, refrigerators, air conditioners, and anything containing Freon will not be accepted. Mattresses can be dropped off for a fee of $10.
